As we navigate the uncertainty unfolding in the world around us, one thing remains abundantly clear—community is everything. Now, more than ever, we need to lift each other up, support our local businesses, and cherish the connections that make our hometowns so special.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Kamloops Art Party, a business built on creativity, inclusivity, and community. Through this journey, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with so many amazing businesses and organizations in Kamloops and its surrounding areas. The generosity, resilience, and passion I witness daily leave me in awe. People supporting people—it’s a simple yet profound concept, and it’s happening right here in our backyard.
The strength of a community isn’t just measured by its economy or infrastructure, but by the kindness and support its members show one another. Watching businesses and individuals step up for each other, rallying in times of need, and celebrating each other’s successes has been truly inspiring. Whether it’s sharing a local artist’s work, attending a community event, or choosing to shop locally rather than ordering online, every small action adds up to something much greater.
It’s important to recognize that the opportunities we are given—the friendships, collaborations, and support—should never be taken for granted. We must continue to give back, not only as a way to say thanks but as a way to keep the cycle of generosity alive. Because when we invest in our community, we invest in ourselves.
While there are SOOO many incredible humans in this community, I want to take a moment to highlight two individuals who astound me every single day with their unwavering commitment to making Kamloops a better place—Carly Schmidt, the powerhouse owner of Kamloops Art Party, and Patti Phillips, the Marketing & PR Director for the North Shore Business Association.
Carly, your passion for the arts, your dedication to creating an inclusive space for creativity, and your endless drive to support both artists and businesses in Kamloops is truly inspiring. Your vision has transformed Kamloops Art Party into not just a business, but a cornerstone of our creative community.
Patti, your tireless efforts in promoting local businesses, fostering connections, and advocating for the growth of our community do not go unnoticed. Your kindness, generosity, and commitment to the people of Kamloops set such a high standard, and I am so proud to work alongside you.
To both of you—keep shining your light. The work you do matters, and our community is better because of it.
To everyone reading this, I encourage you to keep showing up for your community. Support local. Give back. Express gratitude. Because together, we are stronger, and together, we will continue to thrive.
With love and appreciation,
Marcie Mutch
